GPD Welding Developments Limited was founded in 1974 by Robert Millington, his enthusiasm for motorsport and motorcycle racing led him into a labour of love welding motorcycle and sidecar racing chassis as well as aluminium heads and manifolds.

 

Bob was joined in partnership by Roger Goodyear and together their reputation for quality workmanship continued to grow. Within a few years a decision was made to move towards a more commercial line of work with the salvage, rectification and modification of aluminium castings, the company earning an enviable reputation for delivering high quality work.

In 2003 Bob retired and Roger moved on as the company was sold to Keith Smedley and Darren Baldwin both of whom had over 20 years’ service with GPD, they were joined in the acquisition by Terry Harris. In 2006 the company suffered a terrible setback when Keith passed away age just 51 following a brief battle with cancer.

 

In 2008 GPD relocated to Aldermans Green Industrial Estate in Coventry where over the next several years the company concentrated on fabrication work. In 2015 Dean Ardern joined the board bringing with him a wealth of experience, investment in new equipment and recruitment followed as the company continued to grow and to meet the ever changing needs of its client base.
